Maharashtra, one of India’s largest states, is often recognized for Mumbai, the nation’s financial and cultural powerhouse. When people talk about Maharashtra they generally think, this state is all about Bollywood, agriculture, the majestic forts of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and the famous Ganpati Festival. However, an underrated yet equally captivating facet of Maharashtra’s charm lies in its breathtaking beaches.
As far as I know, the most famous of all beaches in Maharashtra are Marine Drive Beach and Juhu Beach. Even though these destinations are buzzy, it is hard to miss the pretty sunsets there while enjoying the tasty Bhelpuri, especially after a heavy work day. But if you want a break from the bustling cities of Mumbai and Pune, Maharashtra’s beaches are so ideal for a refreshing escape.
Most of these beaches are very clean and offer cozy house-stays too. The warm hosts serve mouthwatering homemade meals, adding to the authentic charm of your retreat. You would be surprised to experience that even without 5-star facilities you can enjoy these destinations to the fullest.
So If you’re seeking a break from your hectic city life, Here are some of the best beaches in the state that you should add to your bucket list…

Last year in February, I had a very impromptu trip to Velas Beach. And now this is one of my very favourite Destinations. I am sure you would love taking lazy seaside walks in this mind-blowing destination surrounded by lush greenery and coconut groves.
Velas village is known for its conservative efforts and warm homestays. Konkani Hospitality that I experienced is unmatched. The hosts treated me so well, that I felt like I am their family member.
What sets this beach apart is the annual Olive Ridley turtle festival, where hundreds of baby turtles hatch and make their way into the sea—a mesmerizing sight for nature lovers.
